The Disaster Risk Management Programme (DRM o PMR for its acronym in Spanish), works with 4 state governments, 40 municipalities and 75 communities within Mexico´s south-eastern area, where the indigenous people represent the 45% of the population. 66% of these communities are in poverty and extreme poverty situations. The DRM work focuses in strengthening capacities and assisting disaster risk identification and reduction, as well as developing local and municipal preventive models based upon the Development Sustainable Goals (DSG).
